Business Registration for GIZ PSED-MEP Beneficiaries (Returned Migrants and the Local Population)

This project seeks to facilitate the registration of businesses with the Registrar Generals Department for beneficiaries of the PSED-MEP in the project’s operational regions. (Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions). The beneficiaries underwent entrepreneurship and financial literacy training and were clear on the type of businesses they wanted to establish. Also, as part of this project, provided support to the beneficiaries whose businesses were registered through handheld mentoring to start up their businesses.

Key elements of the project:

  • We undertook due diligence criteria to ensure that businesses of returning migrants and the local population satisfied the requirements of the Companies Act of 2019, Act 992.
  • Registered 200 businesses of returned migrants and local population about to or already operating Small, Micro, and Medium Enterprises under the Companies Act of 2019, Act 992.
  • Conducted quality checks to ensure all the Businesses meet the requirements of the Registration of Businesses Names Act, 1962 (Act 151)
  • Developed and submit a detailed report on each registered business supported by a copy of the certificate
  • of incorporation. The report included, inter alia the legal form of business and the services/ products offered by the business, the challenges encountered during the registration of businesses, and recommendations
  • We developed guidelines for the registration of businesses for the PSED-MEP
